Coastal Connections

The Santa Barbara Sea Glass & Ocean Arts Festival and Beachcombing Magazine are collaborating on a fun global project and we would love to include you!

As part of this project, we are putting together a short film highlighting beachcombers around the world. We’d love to include your video of your beach, some of your finds, and you talking about what spending time on the beach and beachcombing mean to you.

Everyone who submits a video by July 31, 2026, will be entered in a giveaway with prizes including sea glass jewelry, coastal art, and more.

To enter, please upload videos that include all or some of the following ideas:

  • Show us your beach.
  • Introduce yourself and where you live.
  • Tell us what is special to you about being a part of the global ocean beachcombing community.
  • Show us some treasures you find on your beach.
  • Share what you do with your finds — whether you make art, jewelry, or just love to collect.

We will be creating a short film that includes videos from beachcombers, shows some of their beaches, and includes some of their beautiful beachcombing finds. The film will debut at the 2026 Santa Barbara Sea Glass & Ocean Arts Festival on September 13, 2026.

Creating your videos

PLEASE: Set your phone or camera at the highest setting right now before you take any photos or videos. Please submit only your own videos. By sending in your videos you give us permission to use them in print and online.

We can't use videos that are filmed vertically or in square format as they don't fill up a normal video screen. They should be in horizontal, landscape, wide, 16:9 format. Whatever you call it, make sure you turn your phone sideways whenever you make a video. Videos should be at least 1920×1080 pixels.

Think about your computer screen, your television, and a movie theater: they all have horizontal screens. 

Uploading your videos

Upload videos to Google Drive, Google Photos, Dropbox, or other file sharing site.

  • Email us if you would like us to set up a folder on Google Drive or DropBox where you can upload photos.
  • Share the shareable link to your Google Drive folder or Google Photos Album with etchedbytheseashop@gmail.com.
  • Share the shareable link to your Google Photos Album with etchedbytheseashop@gmail.com.
  • Send any other shareable link to your videos to  etchedbytheseashop@gmail.com.
  • Please email us if you would like to share an Apple Photo Album, iCloud folder, or DropBox folder.

Don’t send videos via social media or email

Please don't send video files through Facebook or Instagram as they downsize videos until they are no longer suitable for inclusion in the film. And, please don't email the actual video files, as they will be too large to go through email. Instead please email a link to the files you have uploaded.
