Beachcombing Souvenirs

By Ruth Smethers

When I travel, I try to find a glass jar or bottle for my beach glass finds. I look on the beach, in a dumpster, outside of a restaurant, or at a thrift store from that specific area. It's a bonus if it has the area listed on the bottle! My Lake Erie beach glass is in a bottle that says "New York," glass from Victoria is in a jar made in Canada, the Aruba glass was a complementary bottle in our suite — you get the idea! Some are specific beaches, and some are vacation destinations.
I order the copper tags and use a metal letter punch to punch out the name of the beach or area and attach it to the top of each bottle.

In my window, I currently have:
- Lake Erie
- Victoria, British Columbia
- Lake Ontario
- Fort Bragg, California
- Nevis
- Puerto Rico
- Aruba
- Port Townsend, Washington
- White Rock, British Columbia
-
Sydney, British Columbia
- Coupeville, Washington
- Saint Kitts
- Santa Barbara, California
- Seiko, Washington
- California
