Beachcombing Joys and Pet Peeves
If there are two things we can agree on, it’s that we love picking up treasures on the beach and we hate when people leave trash behind. We asked readers what their favorite things are, and which things bug them most when they are beachcombing. Over 600 people responded to the surveys and the results are shown below.
What bothered people the most while beachcombing was people who leave trash or food on the beach, people who take live shells or animals, and people who feed or scare the animals on the beach. Beachcombers also disliked others playing loud music, smoking, driving on the beach, and people who show off fake sea glass while pretending it’s real.
On the other hand, in addition to everyone loving finding sea glass, shells, fossils, rocks, and more on the beach, they also love the sound of the waves, the fresh air, scenery, and relaxing and de-stressing on the beach. They enjoy getting into nature, seeing wildlife, exercising and moving on the sand, feeling the sun and the breeze, getting their feet wet, and catching a sunrise or sunset. Beachcombers also love making memories with family or remembering family members who are no longer here, meeting new people, and the mindfulness of spending time alone with their thoughts in a beautiful spot.
